I very rarely spend more than $11 on one polish. If you live in Canada like me then you know most polishes are in the $8-$12 range on a regular basis. I once spent $18 on a beautiful NARS polish a couple of years ago and I thought that would be the last of that kind of spending. Then I walked into Sephora one day and came upon Deborah Lippmann's stunning new glitters. I fell. Hard.
A friend/nail soul mate of mine had me interested in them when she showed a beautiful video of the one she bought but I didn't think I would fall in love so fast! I just HAD to buy Glitter and Be Gay when I saw. I know it's just nail polish but the feeling that came over me when I held the bottle was just...surreal. I love glitter. I can spend hours staring at something that has even a hint of glitter, I'm such a magpie. So of course when I'm faced with the chance of having such beauty on my nails, I would take it in a heartbeat. I wish I could wear it all the time or buy a couple dozen bottles of it so it lasts for eternity but alas, I have to resort to hoarding it in my glitter polish drawer away from harm. Thank God for pictures! I know I'll look back at these swatches when I'm 80 years old and probably tear up at the beauty!
Anyway, I thought that would be the last of my Lippmanning but I ventured into Sephora again one day to look at their new polish line and I saw Shake Your Money Maker. I had seen it when I bought the other one but since I only allowed myself to buy one DL, there was no question I'd go for the gold. But now, I had a new job. A job means money. Money means the ability to buy things. Polish; it means the ability to buy polish. So of course I picked up Shake Your Money Maker. And it's every bit as satisfying as I had hoped. Glitter and Be Gay will always be my favourite glitter but SYMM was also worth every penny. Polish like this doesn't come around too often!
